New literary magazine brought out in Gorno Badakhshan

DUSHANBE, February 19, 2010, Asia-Plus /Payrav Chorshanbiyev/ -- The first edition of a new literary magazine entitled Poyi Mehr (The Land at the Foot of the Sun) was brought out in Khorog, the administrative center of Gorno Badakhshan recently.

The magazine editor Qudrat Sha Javlikhon told Asia-Plus that Poyi Mehr is dedicated to make works by local young writers and poets available for the population as well as promote development of prose and poetry in this remote mountain region of Tajikistan.

According to him, the first edition of the magazine contains publications in Tajik, Russian, and English as well as in the Shughni language (one of the Pamir languages).

The magazine has been founded by local NGO Javli.  The magazine is expected to be published once a month and the Khorog publishing house, Logos, has printed 500 copies of the first edition of Poyi Mehr
